Our legacy of innovation, spanning nearly a century, positions us as a trusted partner in the energy sector, driving progress through collaboration, diversity, and technological leadership.
Company History
Founded in 1926 by brothers Conrad and Marcel Schlumberger in France, SLB began with pioneering wireline logging techniques to map subsurface formations, laying the foundation for modern reservoir evaluation. Over the decades, we evolved into a global powerhouse through strategic acquisitions, such as Cameron International, and advancements in drilling and production technologies. Today, we operate across key energy regions, including the Gulf of Mexico, North Sea, Middle East, Asia-Pacific, and major onshore basins like the Permian and Eagle Ford in the U.S., as well as unconventional plays in Latin America and Africa. Our operations span offshore deepwater projects, harsh-environment drilling, and onshore unconventional reservoirs, ensuring we meet the diverse needs of our clients worldwide.
Global Operations and Rig Fleet
SLB owns and operates a vast array of advanced drilling rigs and equipment tailored for both onshore and offshore environments. Our fleet includes state-of-the-art land rigs equipped with automated drilling systems and high-specification offshore rigs, such as jack-ups, semi-submersibles, and drillships, designed for ultra-deepwater and complex well operations. Through our integrated services, we provide directional drilling, measurement-while-drilling (MWD), and logging-while-drilling (LWD) technologies, supported by our proprietary tools like the PowerDrive rotary steerable systems and SpectraSphere fluid mapping services. Our rigs are deployed globally, from the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico to the remote fields of the Middle East, ensuring precision and efficiency in every project.
Career Opportunities
We offer a wide range of oil and gas job opportunities to support our global operations. Our drilling engineers design and execute complex well plans, while geologists and geophysicists analyze subsurface data to optimize reservoir performance. Directional drillers and MWD/LWD specialists ensure precise well trajectories, and our field technicians, roughnecks, toolpushers, and drilling supervisors operate and maintain our advanced rigs with unparalleled expertise. Offshore roles, such as subsea engineers, focus on deepwater and ultra-deepwater projects, while safety supervisors uphold our rigorous HSE standards. We also seek project managers, data scientists, and digital technology specialists to drive innovation through our industry-leading digital platforms. With opportunities for both early-career professionals and seasoned experts, SLB fosters a dynamic, inclusive workplace with global mobility and career growth.
